My Coffee of Valhalla journey began after my seventeen-and-a-half-year military career came to an abrupt end in 2021. I had spent most of my adult life on deployment, most of which was in Afghanistan, where I lost several close friends to combat or suicide. The one thing that was able to help me navigate my darkest hours was my routine. I was in Afghanistan. we were taking heavy casualties. I had been hurt and was on a cocktail of pain killers, and even my commanding officer committed suicide. The one thing that got me through it was sitting on the roof of our mud hut, drinking a cup of coffee, and watching the sun rise over the mountains of Afghanistan. I was having beans mailed to me from different parts of the world, and I made that my mental health focus. The fifteen or so minutes of quiet allowed me to clear just enough fog from my head to get enough footing to start making dramatic changes that would help me through the process. Now I get to share this with you through fresh roasted to order coffee ethically sourced from around the world. On top of that, I will be donating 50% of the proceeds to Stop Soldier Suicide, so your morning cup of coffee will help someone else who is in a dark time of their life, and you will start each day saving someone's life.
